There are seven different accommodation apartments for singles, couples or families at Platypus Park Country Retreat in Bridport. We have choices because not one size fits all. We are happy to provide more information about the trails to our guests on arrival or ask for our information sheets to be emailed.

Annual Events: For those who are really looking for a challenge register for the Ben Lomond Descent today. Held in August, yes it's cold but exhilerating. Bridport Fun Run is part of the North East Rivers Festival, held third week of October.

Mountain Biking

The new Blue Derby trails will be opening in January 2015. The guys at World Trail have been doing a great job developing the the seven new trails for your enjoyment.

Kate Reed Reserve in Launceston is a well developed area for biking and is easily accessible for young and old.

Trevallyn Reserve in Launceston is also a well used site for mountain biking.

The trails being built at Hollybank in North East Tasmania, near Lilydle, is soon to be opened too.

Everyone around the cycling world wants to come to Tasmania to try them all out.

Hiking

In Bridport we have three interesting walking tracks which suit all levels of fitness.

The Foreshore track with History interpretation signs is a 2 hour return walk in amongst the native flora and beaches.

The Wild flower reserve walk is best in spring and stretches from the top of Main St to Granite Point.

The River Forest walk takes you from Main St around the perimenter of town though some lovely fern glades, dry forest, past the wier and settling pond, through to Ada Street. If you feel energetic you can combine the three walks into an 11 Km stroll.

Ralphs Falls is accessed from Ringarooma, and is a delightful short walk for young and old.

Blue Tier has several walks which intrigue all ages, take the children on the  Goblin walk.

Mount William National Park in the far North East is home to many native animals including the Forester Kangaroo. The walk up Mt William is quite easy.

Driving 4x4

Bridport to Bellingham, takes you out over some steep sand dunes and along the coast.

Derby to Mt Paris Dam, is a voyage of discovery through some forestry roads to uncover a litttle of the Chinese mining heritage before arriving at Weldborough.

Ansons Bay to Pioneer, through the back roads, has you imagining what the old timers and miners would have experienced.

Our self contained accommodation was established in 1993 by a 6th generation Tasmanian family and we are still here today to assist you with your holiday arrangements.
